Sylvain Charpentier has more than 35 years of experience in institutional real estate investment, governance and strategic leadership. Prior to founding CharpInvest Consulting Inc., a real estate investment advisory and asset management firm, he served for 15 years as Head of Real Estate Investments for the Hydro-Québec Pension Fund, where he was responsible for the strategy and oversight of a $5.4 billion real estate portfolio across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. During his tenure, he developed the Fund’s international real estate investment strategy, established strategic partnerships with leading real estate investment managers and represented the Fund on boards and investment committees.
Earlier in his career, Sylvain held senior investment and leadership positions with Maestro and Cadim (La Caisse), as well as with Desjardins and PwC. He has served on numerous boards of directors and investment committees in Canada and internationally. Sylvain holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UQAM and is a CPA, CA, a certified corporate director (ASC, D.Dir.) and a GCB.D. in Governance and Sustainability.
